Marching Band’s Trip to Baltimore

     Recently the Port Richmond Marching Band Visited Baltimore Maryland. On the way there Julia Rodriquez played her ukulele while other students sang along with her.  On their overnight trip they were able to go site seeing on a speed boat where members of marching band were singing and dancing to music. After walking around the inner harbor they went to the Hard Rock CafĂ© where they were able to enjoy a great meal and buy souvenirs. Students also attend the Camden Yards Stadium where they watched the Baltimore Orioles play against the Los Angeles Angels. After a long, exciting day students went to the hotel where they hung out with their friends. The following day they drove to Six Flags where they performed several songs and then spent the day going on rides and playing games. Everyone had a great time!

Culinary Senior Night

     On Wednesday, May 20th, the Culinary Department hosted a Senior Night for all their seniors. All seniors received a special spatula as an award. Other seniors received another award that recognized them for either their academic grades, service to their SLC or their commitment to Port Richmond High School. Their Valedictorian was Dylan Russell, Salutatorian was Fayrouz Kanj and Third Ranked was Victoria Van Name. The students that received merit roll were: Brandon Thomas, Julianne Messine, Philip Delia, Monet Ametefe, Dante Butterfield, Destiny Annorh, Karen Contreras, Jeremy Quinones, Terrell Shakes, Emily Caraballo, Matthew Rooney, Jennyfer Vazquez, and Lyric Perkins. Emily Caraballo received the Medal in Culinary Arts, Victoria Van Name received the Certificate of Achievement in Culinary Arts, Gina Parrish and Sammy Chea received the Certificate of Service in Culinary Arts, Shakee Johnson received the Certificate of Merit & Growth in Culinary Arts, and Destiny Annorh received the Culinary Arts Academy Total Raider Award. It was a special night for all culinary seniors.

Senior T-Shirt Reveal

     On Thursday, May 21, 2015 the COSA, Mr. Medugno, called all seniors who paid senior dues to the auditorium periods 5-7 to unveil this years' senior t-shirt. The winning artist of this year's design is Abner Higueros. He will be awarded with a free senior shirt, yearbook, and video yearbook. Mr. Medugno also had a brief meeting regarding senior week. One week after Memorial Day, the senior festivities kick off with Twin Day Tuesday. Wednesday will be College Decision Day, where all of the seniors broadcast what college they will be attending in the fall, while wearing their college tee. Thursday will be Throwback/ Flash Forward Friday. You can dress up like back in the day or dress how you see yourself as a senior citizen. Friday is Senior Shirt Day and at night a mini carnival for the last event together before prom "Senior Night". We are getting closer to the end of the year so now the fun begins!

Community Fair

     On Saturday May 9, 2015, Port Richmond High School got together  with its community partners and had a small fair. The Culinary Department served hot dogs and hamburgers to the attendees while students from I.B.H.E.T.  gave out fresh popcorn and cotton candy. The NYPD showed support with their rock wall that attendees were encouraged to climb. The FDNY also showed support by having a smoke house where the attendees were able to experience what it would be like in a fire. There were also vendors selling Mother’s day flowers. Representatives of Staten Island Hospital also showed up to give out information about their services. Mr. Gannon raffled off a t.v. which one student won. The day was filled with fun and entertainment for everyone.

"IN THE HEIGHTS" Dress Rehearsal


     Attention, Listen up. Our spring musical IN THE HEIGHTS is premiering tonight.The show begins tonight at 7 p.m. and Saturday night at the same time with tickets being sold for $5 at the S.O. store and $10 at the door. "IN THE HEIGHTS tells the universal story of a vibrant community in New York’s Washington Heights neighborhood – a place where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music. It’s a community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams and pressures, where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you take with you, and which ones you leave behind." The talented cast has put together a wonderful performance that was shown Thursday, April 30th during 8th period. We were able to get a sneak peak of what's in store for tonight and it is definitely worth seeing. Come on out and experience a musical story !
